English across subjects in the first grade – a course for first grade teachers and educators at after-school programmes

Experienced English teachers prepared a course for their colleagues to help them break into the method of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning – the teaching of a subject in a foreign language). This modern teaching method is already being used in Hradec Králové and through this course the language skills of teachers were expanded so as to enable them to use English when teaching other first grade subjects, as well as during standard situations in the classroom or at after-school programmes. Thanks to this course a methodological manual with vocabulary and a CD with recordings and many worksheets were put together. Training for teachers from other schools and adaptation of the materials for other languages is being prepared in cooperation with the National Institute for Further Education.
