THE INITIATIVE PROMOTER’S PERSPECTIVE

Background

Rovaniemi adult education centre offers a wide range of languages and has constantly developed it's language teaching. It teaches neighbouring languages and it also teaches Italian in cooperation with local upper secondary schools.

Objectives

To promote language learning and to widen the range of languages on offer.

Approach

The centre has actively taken part in the projects which promote language teaching, assessment of learning results and teaching of immigrants. Also foreign teacher trainees have been able to take part in the activities.

Motivations

Rovaniemi adult education center offers a wide range of foreign languages to be studied and it has made efforts in developing and enlarging the language teaching.
The study programme offers language learning of the neighbour countries as well as Italian studies together with the local upper secondary schools. The centre has actively participated in projects that promote language learning among adults, evaluation of learning results and migrants' integration. Also foreign teacher students are involved in the centre's project.
