Group Talk
"Group Talk" is a language learning project at Wildern School in Southampton which develops pupils’ ability to take part in spontaneous mini-discussions and debates in the target language. Since winning the EAL for the first time in 2008, the project has impacted significantly on language learning. It has now been adopted by many other schools and has been recognised by Ofsted as outstanding practice. The Group talk project was born out of dissatisfaction with traditional formulaic speaking activities, and the need to engage learners through a more dynamic and spontaneous use of language. The project aims to equip language learners with that crucial ability to use spontaneous language.
