Learning languages with language stories
The project “Learning languages with language stories” is an interdisciplinary and federative project around children literature. About 83 primary classes and two secondary schools are engaged in this project. Basically volunteers register interdisciplinary children books in various languages in an internet website so teachers can use them in the classrooms www.ecoles.montpellier.fr/elv/. The objectives are: - Helping primary and secondary teachers teaching: English and/or German around children literature books in connection with other subjects, - developing intercultural skills among pupils from an early age, - improving language skills development from kindergartens to primary and secondary schools, - helping teachers validating pupils language skills The internet site allows a collaborative exchange of pedagogical material. Currently, four children books and linked pedagogical resources are available in both English and German; for example short videos showing how to set up some creative and ludic activities around language learning. More languages are to be added. Public: - Pupils: from kindergarten to college - Teachers: all teachers in primary and secondary schools
