Teaching Languages through Movie Making
Teaching Languages through Movie Making is a project that aims to teach a language through the creation of scripts and short movies in a foreign language. It is an innovative project based on teaching methods like task-based learning; cooperative learning and the role-play theory. There are several goals of the project: to teach a language focusing the attention on real linguistic functions and their retention in long-term memory; to teach non-verbal, para-verbal and socio-cultural communication principles; to motivate students to accomplish a very challenging task, the creation of a short movie. Learning is facilitated by interaction among students in order to complete the task. In fact, students have to choose a subject for a story together, then write a script and act it out.
