A course of initial teacher education and university studies for the development of bilingual qualifications in Geography, History and Social Sciences – (Studienreferendariat mit französisch bilingualer Profilbildung in den Sachfächern Erdkunde, Geschichte, Sozialwissenschaften)
The objectives of this innovative teacher education course were to develop bilingual competences and didactic methodologies specifically adapted to CLIL teaching of their university subjects – Geography, History and Social Sciences. The practical teaching placements were in schools with bilingual programmes and the course included a six weeks exchange stay in a French IUFM (University Institute for Teacher Education) where they worked in tandem with French teachers in training of the same subjects.
