Secção Europeia de Língua Francesa
This Project fulfills with quality all the required criteria. It opens a true European dimension to the school which has implemented it and it raises new perspectives in the relations with other schools. The main goals are: improving the learning of a foreign language; to enhance the cultural and linguistic diversity; to foster the pupils’ exchange and the mobility for teachers. The project has been developed with lower secondary pupils using the following strategy: besides the curricular French course, pupils attended a weekly extra course of 45 minutes in the target language plus another course (in this case History) in the same foreign language, thus using CLIL as pedagogical approach. They have visited the European Parliament thanks to the support of a Portuguese Eurodeputy; they have kept regular mail exchange with pupils from two other member states and they also have carried out bilateral videoconferences in the celebration of the World Earth Day (April 22). They have performed a French spoken show. The class which was finishing the lower secondary cycle has undergone the DELF examination. The school community was also involved through the local media, the school website and dissemination sessions. The teachers have also been trained for the accomplishment of some specific tasks.
