Interactive Latvian language e-learning course for refuges and asylum seekers to promote their access to education and vocational skills

The project is implemented by a joint stock company "Datorzinibu centrs". The project target group is asylum seekers, refugees and persons with alternative status. The project is aimed to support their integration in the Latvian society and to encourage their access to education and vocational skills by developing an interactive Latvian language level A2 e-learning course using English as intermediary language. The course consists of 30 lessons. The training course includes a lot of modern and innovative computer technologies. There will be available a special module, featuring spell check of word dictation and vocabulary test for learning vocabulary of the Latvian language and improvement of writing skills. Mastering of pronunciation will be facilitated by a specially designed Latvian language speech synthesizer, which is integrated into the course. The project result is an electronic self-study Latvian language learning course in HTML and SCORM (e-learning standard) formats, ready for use at the asylum seeker centre” Mucenieki”. To broaden the availability of the course, it will be issued on CD-ROM, which could be used on any PC with an optical disc reader. The project is being implemented in collaboration with two partners - the National Agency for Latvian Language Training (LVAVA) and the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs.
