THE INITIATIVE PROMOTER’S PERSPECTIVE
The ATTIC project is directed towards adults working the the field of arts, handicrafts and cultural heritage, developers and distributors of touristic products and services connected with the traditions and culture. The project target groups also include adults with interests in the area of the cultural traditions of the European nations striving for getting familiar with new countries, cultures and people.
The target languages of the project are Bulgarian, Greek, Danish, Latvian and Galician (Galego).
- To provoke the development of language competences in adults through intercultural dialogue on the topics Handicrafts, Fairy tales, Legends, Myths and traditional games with focus on the relation between culture and education;
- To provide new learning opportunities for adults in small towns, geographically and socially isolated;
- Using local traditions and cultures as a tool to provide non-conventional methods of training in languages, computers and handicrafts
- To broaden the horizon of the beneficiaries and to increase the European dimension of the participating institutions through providing non-traditional learning methods
The project activities were directed towards improvement of the language skills for communication in an multinational environment as well as toward the use of computers and Internet-based learning materials: developing materials for the creation of a website attic.tryavna.biz; developing presentations and video clips on the local handicrafts and cultural traditions; collecting and translating games, fairy tales, legends, songs and dances; recording audio files; story telling; participation in international meetings and festivals for sharing the developed materials; pedagogical workshops for trainers, etc.
- Web-based learning environment;
- Five local international cultural festivals;
- DVDs on handicraft techniques and folk dances and music;
- Traditional games catalogue;
- Book of European myths and legends collected;
- Package of pedagogical materials.
The language materials are developed on the basis of the chosen topics, which are the same for all participants. The language needs of the target groups were taken into consideration in the selection of the topics and resources for the successful promotion of the local cultures, handicrafts and traditions in an foreign-language environment.
The preparation and participation in international meetings were based on the successful implementation of the method "learning by doing" (through songs, dances, games, etc.) which guarantees learning in a comfortable and entertaining environment.
The project promoters, Infocenter EOOD, decided to apply for the European Language Label in order to achieve greater sustainability of the results and further dissemination opportunities of the project and its outcomes.
After receiving the award, the European Language Label logo was placed on all dissemination materials as well as the website of the project promoter, Infocenter EOOD. The project was presented at an official ceremony in front of relevant stakeholders in the field of language education.
The European Label award provided official recognition of the quality of the project and its outcomes.
Future applicants for the European Language Label are advised to provide a very clear and concise description of their projects with explicit focus on their strengths, and where applicable, potential for future initiatives which to ensure sustainability of the results.
THE NELLIP NETWORK’S PERSPECTIVE
ATTIC is in consistency with the European policies in the field of language learning because it is aimed at promotion of new approaches to language teaching and learning, promotion of multilingualism as well as promotion of the development of teaching material for the learning of less widely spoken languages.
THE NATIONAL AGENCY’S PERSPECTIVE
The ATTIC project was selected because it corresponded to a highest extent to the award criteria for the European Language Label in the 2009 selection.

Message: Arts, crafts and story-telling are always good means for accommodation of languages in people\'s lives. The communication is not necessary verbal because people from different countries can communicate also through arts and get inspired to learn something in the language of people with similar interests.
