THE INITIATIVE PROMOTER’S PERSPECTIVE
The “Amici del Mediterraneo” project, realized by the “Università per Stranieri” of Siena, includes the production of two handbooks for the teaching of Italian as a second language intended for high school students of the Egyptian Republic. The course of Italian is divided into two levels, specifically planned and realised to satisfy the linguistic needs of such kind of students. The course’s main objective is to teach the language as a communication instrument to allow interaction in common contexts related to everyday life and professional introduction of the students in working fields related to tourism and commerce.

Message: The best way to learn a language is to apply it to particular areas of work. Communication in real settings enhances motivation among students especially if it is linked to professional training.

Message: It is very interesting for me to see that Italian or any languages can be spread for specific purposes, particularly, related to toursism and commerce. It would be very enriching to promote other professional fields so students can choose the area they would like to be specialized.
