THE INITIATIVE PROMOTER’S PERSPECTIVE
The project is a good example of how to teach children from an early age greater sensitivity towards foreign languages, how children learn about other countries, customs and cultures, even through separated by hundreds of kilometers which makes actual exchange abroad of such young children almost impossible.
Familiarization with different pedagogical methods and forms of work in preschools;
Comparing different pedagogical principles for work in kindergartens;
Getting acquainted with the culture, traditions and folklore of various countries and regions;
Knowing the differences in cultural traditions, celebrations, etc.;
Developing knowledge about urban history, territory, culture and the arts in different countries;
Finding and getting to know different ways and possibilities of expression by preschool children: music, movement, facial expression, verbal - based on experience.
The core material in international cooperation is regular exchange of letters between children and teachers. Children are introduced to each other at the beginning and through their experiences they connect to their friends abroad. They write about what is happening at school, what they play, what holidays they celebrate, what activities there are in kindergarten, etc. Afterwards teachers and children read together the letters that come and talk about them. Children and school teachers learn interesting songs, rhymes, games, listen to German children's songs from a CD. Gradually, they expand the vocabulary of children in Czech and German.
Developing in children a relationship to languages as well as quality listening skills that they will use when learning a foreign language in the elementary school and later in life.
