THE INITIATIVE PROMOTER’S PERSPECTIVE
The International Summer Language School (ISLS) is organised by the International Office, University of West Bohemia, Pilsen, Czech Republic. The International Summer Language School was held for several years under the auspices of the President of the Czech Commission for UNESCO, Doc. MUDr. Jaroslava Moserová, DrSc.
To give the people an opportunity to improve their language skills;
To help people gaining a better understanding of different cultures;
To create a truly international and intercultural environment by bringing together Czechs with the people from all over the world.
The International Summer Language School offers language courses in Czech for foreigners, English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish at beginner to advance levels in co-operation with native speakers and Czech lecturers.
Every year a great number of foreigners living in the Czech Republic come and participate in the International Summer Language School to improve their level of the Czech language.
The International Summer Language School offers various language courses at beginner / intermediate / advanced levels. In 2013 the following languages are offered: English, Italian, Russian, French, Czech for foreigners, German, Spanish, Portuguese.
The International Summer Language School first took place in 1990 with 130 students and lecturers. In eighteen years the number has increased to 877 participants (students and lecturers) from all parts of the Czech Republic and abroad. In 2012, 171 participants arrived from countries all over the world.
THE NELLIP NETWORK’S PERSPECTIVE
The project is in consistency with the current policies in the field of language learning because it is directed towards promoting new approaches to language teaching and learning, supporting mobility for language learning as well as promotion of multilingualism.
