THE INITIATIVE PROMOTER’S PERSPECTIVE
Description of the context and of the needs the initiative responds to
Reasons for selecting the specific thematic area, target group and target language(s)..
The objectives of this intercession are varied
sensitizing European citizens towards the importance of dialogue ;
making use of the opportunities offered by the e-learning platform through the FENC depositary ;
promoting the common values ;
encouraging the cultural exchanges and debates;.
Target groups:
- the VET institutions in Netherlands, UK, Belgium , Romania.
- teachers-they enhanced new techniques and methods which contributed to the process of learning foreign languages . These methods and techniques were also used in teaching other school subjects;
- students-they accessed the FENC depositary exploiting its potential in order to consolidate the understanding of the European dimension
One of the most difficult and challenging need is to stimulate sharing the cultural, educational and linguistic content among the European countries.
The official language of the project was English but in the depositary there are materials in the mother tongue of the participants as well
1. To implement the methodology of the FENC depositary which is available for education in Europe;
2. To promote the idea of sharing and arranging the educational content within the European Community schools and colleges ;
3. To share the quality educational content based on surfing on-line with regard to didactics and technical demands such as meta data;
4. To disseminate the results concerning the way e-learning can be used in order to better the quality of learning due to foreign language and vocational training in the involved countries;
The permanent training of those involved in the project was possible by taking part to the Take Shape, Share seminars: THE EUROPEAN REPOSITORY PROJECT, which were organized in England and in Romania. Four teachers within our school attended the mobility in UK- London. They had to disseminate the information and help the other teachers prepare the materials.
This process was done in a creative and original way by using new methods and techniques and the programme , WimbaCreate which generates automatically lessons and tests.
The materials were uploaded on the site of the project during the project. The proof for this is the data base which has between 30.000 and 50.000 lessons.
As a result of this project a multilinguistic site was made. The information related to the lessons, the new teaching methods and techniques, the curricula of the participant counties are on this site. (between 30.000 and 50.000 lessons). The originality of the final product consists of the free access from any part of the Europe to the materials uploaded.
The project produced results of interest for all the participants involved t and it had a key role in the exchange of the information. .
The web page which was implemented during the first months of the project was enriched as the project developed.
An educational community was created and it shared the educational content.
Thousands of lessons “free for copy right” were stocked in the FENC depositary and the number grows daily due to the materials uploaded.
They are and will be used by any school which will pay the fee in order to become a member of the community.
The European Language Label certificate offers more prestige to our school and at the same time it contributes to disseminating the project on a national level.
Being informed by the inspector Ioana Jurca we downloaded the form , filled it in with the needed information and we applied.
At first we just hoped to win this distinction . Then we were happy to be the first school in our county ( at that moment) to have such a distinction .
The dissemination was fulfilled on the site of ISJ Hunedoara, within the pedagogical meetings. Thus the colleagues from other schools were motivated to take part to the next editions.
The prize had a great impact as far as concerns our school and other schools in the county. Within the edition that followed our county had the largest amount of projects that applied for ELL certificate and our school and another one in our town got the certificate
By participating to this project we were given the chance to raise the level of understanding the quality initiatives regarding language learning.
THE NELLIP NETWORK’S PERSPECTIVE
The project is consistent with the current policies. It is focused on learning mobilities, it aims at improving employment-related languages skills, it involves teaching / learning methodologies specific to VET, it includes less-widely used languages (English, Romanian, Dutch) and a cultural dimension in a professional field (work relationships in a multicultural team).
The project is consistent with the European, National and yearly priorities.
It provides added value, it motivates the students and the teachers to improve their language skills, it is original and creative.
