THE INITIATIVE PROMOTER’S PERSPECTIVE
The project stemmed from the need to enhance intercultural awareness of art students and provide the necessary language skills to support vocational cooperation
Main objectives of the project were to raise the participants’ competence in visual expression, creative international co-operation and language skills in multicultural teams of vocational art students and teachers.
The methodological idea of SAMPO came from an earlier youth exchange project of TAS, which had been cooperation between 6 different countries. During the project, non-formal and formal learning techniques were mixed to create graffiti, comics and a play on the basis of fairy tales of the participating countries. Mixing old and new, using myth, comics and animation in different cultures were therefore chosen as the tools to contribute to the purpose of SAMPO. As TAS is a member of ArtECult (European network of vocational art schools and partner companies), it had a lot of good partners providing different specialties and techniques in the field of art and design. The selected Finnish partner’s (North Carelia College Outokumpu) input to the project was print design and 3D techniques; Borgarholtsskoli (BHS) in Reykjavik provided competence and technology for animation.
The project aimed at raising intercultural knowledge and understanding and supporting language learning in specific field of vocational education.
The workshops in the partner countries proved that the results were fully achieved.
The success and satisfaction with the results led to application.
The award raised the partners' profile and give stimulus to further projects
