Italian Bilingual Classes

The Italian Bi-Lingual Classes project at St. Aloysius’ College Junior School, in Glasgow, is an immersion programme supported by the Italian Consul General. A class of children in Year 2 to 6 are partially immersed in Italian for 10 hours each week. The project has embraced the concept of learning foreign languages through real communication with native speakers by appointing Italian teachers. Pupils have been taught to read, write and speak Italian, with subjects such as music and art being utilised to enhance their understanding of the language and culture of Italy.
