Language circus Helsinki “Viehko”
Helsinki Language Tivoli Viehko of Spanish, Italian, Chinese, French, German, Russian and Estonian languages, and those languages that are taught in schools in the City of Helsinki as a mother tongue (more than 40 of them). The project tackles the topical problem of the accumulation of language resources at primary school. The project focuses on awareness of the importance of diverse language skills eg by informing parents about the necessity of language skills other than English. The project has built a large network, arranged a lot of training; the teachers have built cooperation networks with companies by interviewing employees on their language needs. The project has gained a lot of visibility by arranging popular events to address pupils, parents, schools and those interested in languages.
