The project “Intercultural interaction with partner schools. Alternative guide training at partner schools in Latvia, Germany. Sweden” is a project in which Latvian, German and Swedish schools are involved. The aim of the project is to establish contacts with partner schools, improve the pupils` knowledge of the German, Swedish and English language and to train alternative guides. The project was started in 2006/2007 and will be finished in 2008/2009. Pupils aged 15 – 18 are involved in the project. The pupils of Riga Secondary School 25 guided the pupils from Realschule Billerbeck in Riga and Jurmala, and the pupils of Realschule Billerbeck acted as guides in Billerbeck, Münster and Bremen. All the information about the towns was summarized and a film was also made. The information about the project was disseminated in the magazine of the German language teachers “Deutsch – mein Fach” and in the German press. Similar co-operation and exchange is planned with a school in Sweden. All materials will be collected and available for other schools wishing to prepare alternative guides.
