THE INITIATIVE PROMOTER’S PERSPECTIVE
The project promoted a videoconference with a Medicine Nobel laureate, Doctor Craig Mello. Being medicine the students’ major area of interest.
The aim of the videoconference was to develop the oral skills (in particular oral expression) in an authentic context. The subject of the videoconference was “The Labour World”.
The whole project consisted of preparing the videoconference from the very beginning, including the later reception of the laureate Doctor to the college. This visit took place months later. One of the most motivating factors for all the developed work was the context being real. Every student involved in the project has improved the selected skill (oral expression).

Message: Real contact with authentic material in their area of interest, medicine, really motivates students. More well-known specialists could volunteer for that nice project.

Message: This is an excellent example of how to add a \'real\' dimension to foreign language learning. If only more well known specialists could give a little time for such interactions with students via video-conferencing - or in a live context.
