Virksomhedsdansk /Danish for employees in a production enterprise

At Egebjerg machine factory a language program was created in order to build bridges between people of different origins. The workers were offered evening courses in Danish where practical math and work culture activities were also dealt with.

Full Description

Practical mathematics and work culture - all at Egebjerg Maskinfabrik.
In the classroom the students are offered tea, coffee, sandwiches and sweets. The idea is that it must be nice to go to language teaching which takes place after work for the employees concerned.
Language classes are taught by Rud Teglers and Solveig Thim Jensen. They ask the students to solve various tasks involving words such as flat, round bars and locking doors etc. One task is to find out how many words could be formed from the letters in the word 'safety'. The students work with different practical mathematical assignments that have to do with everyday life situations at the job. They have also created the word bank, a place where words are collected. Examples from everyday life from employees' lives are used. They have also worked with the company's staff handbook.

'Business Danish' is distinguished by language teaching which is based on the students’, other staff and management needs where the language is seen as the basis for an improved quality of all employees' job functions and as a bridge between cultural differences and an important means of integration.
