Global Communications

The "Global Communications" course at Leighton Park School in Reading was developed to enhance Key Stage 3 pupils’ experience of language learning. Introduced in September 2012 as part of a new creative curriculum for Year 7, it provides a fresh way for pupils to understand the relevance of foreign language use and cross-cultural interaction. Three periods per fortnight are dedicated to deepening pupils’ understanding of the relevance to them of inter-cultural communication (including communicating in a foreign language), and to giving pupils practical, transferable linguistic skills to facilitate their learning and use of foreign languages
