The World Of The Signs

This initiative consists of the creation of multimedia material to teach Deaf Spanish speaking people their vernacular language (Valenciano). Valencia is a community in Spain where two languages coexist and this makes even harder the social integration of Deaf People. To overcome these difficulties multimedia materials were created to guide pupils at school and high school and foster the learning of their vernacular language. A lot of videos were recorded including the Sign Language. These videos visualized the language at real time and make explanations dynamic and really interesting for Deaf students. Some questionnaires were designed and used to measure learning and test previous knowledge and recording the improvements. This initiative is a transferable project since it can be used in any community with two or more coexisting languages.
