I Congreso Internacional Luces y Sombras

The target group is students of the first course of Bachillerato. A virtual congress was organized entitled Light and Darkness during the two first semesters of the course 2008-2009. The students had the opportunity of dealing with astronomy and the relevant role of women within this field. Different lecturers and cultural activities were carried out in a virtual world. The main goal of this initiative is to foster the learning of foreign languages through the use of TIC so that the information can be obtained and shared. The students have learnt specific vocabulary related to fields such as: War, Human Rights, Recycling Health, Economy, Policy, and Astronomy among others. Interviews, discussions, role plays were created by the students using different sources found in Internet. The students create a telematic forum in which they are logged in to share the information and have it ready to be used for congresses, debates and other events. The direct result of this initiative is the celebration of the 1st Virtual Congress of Light and Darkness. This Project is currently opened to all the students in this high school interested in these topics. And the teachers are organizing a trip to Washington and New York to go on developing this multicultural Project. As a future action they are considering the celebration of a real congress, opening Doors to everyone willing to take part.
