Learning English Through Festivals

The project was commenced in September 2002 with an intension to prove: 1)it is a fun and easy to study English; 2)in order to understand English better it is necessary to get acquainted with the culture of the nations speaking the language. Festivals celebration is one of the means to get to know the culture and mentality of the nation. The following festivals have been celebrated during the academic year 2002/2003: Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, R.Burn’s Night, St. Valentine’s Day, April Fool’s Day. Next year it is planned to deepen the obtaining knowledge and to make it is a tradition, as well as add to the list W.Shakespeare’s birthday, Advent and May Day and to introduce the idea into German and French teaching.
