ESP – a Teaching Multi-tool in second language learning in Österåker

The European Language Portfolio (ESP) is a teaching multi-tool that meets with the need for a common pedagogical description of students´ expected language skills and ESP can also be used for planning, monitoring and evaluation. In Österåker they have chosen to use two teaching tools from ESP: The Language Passport and the Self-assessment in the two subjects mother tongue and Swedish as a second language.

Full Description

Using ESP in Österåker has led to that
■ Students and their parents can become more involved in language learning. Information for parents can be more clear and distinct.
■ The evaluation meetings with pupils and parents are given a common "language" through common references in the ESP.
■ The grades and the discussion of grades are more distinct.
■ ESP cards can be used as a management tool. The quality of language teaching be evaluated and improved.
