New Friends

At Scoil Uí Mhuirí, Dunleer, language teaching and ICT have become synonymous. In this project, a teachers of German in Ireland and of English in Germany helped students to prepare and carry out videoconferences. The work involved careful preparation and extensive collaboration between the two teachers. Scripts were prepared, grammatically checked and learned. An element of active comprehension and participation by all students during the videoconference was essential and this was achieved by all students filling out grids containing information on the speakers. Pre-task planning was found to improve fluency and enhance the complexity of language used.
