Getting to Grips with the English language

The aims of this project are to support ESOL learners, from various ethnic backgrounds, to remove language barriers and provide skills to integrate more effectively into Irish society. In addition to classes, ESOL learners and tutors have activities: tours, anti-racism and intercultural initiatives and a community radio documentary series. Learners also use a Peer Mentoring Program where more advanced English language learners offer a support network. The overall purpose of this project is to respect and embrace all learners accessing the centre, to take practical steps to promote language learning, and to cater for cultural diversity. The project gives intercultural dimension to Adult Education.
