Learning Italian through Creation of Subtitles

Audio Visual Translation in foreign language teaching, transforms traditional classroom contexts into a more progressive and interactive media based process. This project considers how subtitling promotes second language acquisition (SLA). The course in subtitling started as part of the Italian Language module for students of the National University of Ireland, Galway. In this course, the translation project is from Italian (L2) into English (L1) and provides for the use of Italian film material.
