The English Track

The target groups are young children from preschool to grade 6 (12 years old) and they learn English by language immersion. An “English Lady” visits the younger children initiating activities that stimulate the use of English words and phrases. In grade 5 and 6 they have one hour per week when the play in English. English is integrating in for example music, lunch break and outdoor activities. In grade six they make a trip to England. There is the option to choose “English only” as student´s choice.

The goals with this project is to
■ Increase the interest and desire to learn the English language and, by extension, other languages.
■ Increase the children's communication skills.
■ Increase children's opportunities for cultural exchange.
■ Integrate English with other subjects.
■ Train children's communicative abilities by, in English, creating and maintaining contact with peers in England.
■ Increase the children's knowledge of fact about countries where English is spoken.

From Preschool up through grade 4, an extra "immersion" in the English language is given every day for a shorter session. This can include what day of the week it is, counting, greetings and other everyday things. Children learn quickly on an imitative basis and through social interaction.

An "English lady" visits the younger children doing language stimulating activities.

In grade 5-6 pupils will be offered one hour / week playing in English, watching English movies, all to increase the desire and interest to learn English.

In grade 5 and 6 they also read facts about England and other English speaking countries.

During grade 5 they also established contacts with an English school, and when online exchange ideas and make comparisons with each other of spare time activities, traditions, values and social life.

In grade 6 students are given the opportunity to practice their new communication skills and experience of social life in England through a trip to England in the spring semester.
